Mission Statement:" Bringing Business and the Community Together"…..

  • To provide a networking opportunity for all businesses
  • To promote open communication and support to all business and community leaders
  • To be a resource for information generated from County, City and State levels that have a direct Impact on our Business Community

President’s Message:

As we entered into the last few months of 2007, we reflect on what we have accomplished. We are still a "young" organization, having only regrouped less than three years ago and in which time we have worked with Baltimore County on the county executive’s imitative –the Your Neighborhood Downtown and have planned events to promote this campaign. The business took an active role in the SHA streetscape project and hosted events for the benefit of our businesses and sponsored events in which the community was invited.

One example is the community tree lighting event. Several years ago when the Linover Association own tree lighting was cancelled, the business association stepped in and donated the tree to the community and with the permission of Rec. & Parks it was planted at the community center which sits between both communities. The business association then worked to bring all the communities together including, Linover, Overlea and Elmwood-Belmar, several churches and the Rosedale Fire Department. We added a canned good drive to benefit the food bank at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church as well as a pine cone bird feeder project as ornaments for our tree that were provided by the residents of Brightview Assisted Living, local children and community members. With the community associations outreach scout troops and the youth groups have been included. This event has been planned with great community spirit and has brought a lot of groups together for one huge caroling parade and tree lighting event. The spirit of community is evident in Overlea- Fullerton. This year we’ve been asked to step away from this event by the community associations as they feel a community event should be community driven. So the OFBPA will be donating the star, lights and the timer cord (which was so graciously donated by Sipple Electric last year) to the community associations. We are proud to have been the leader of this great event and are extremely glad to see the communities coming together for all of Overlea Fullerton. The tree lighting will be held on December 1st at 7:00 pm.

We will be holding our elections at the November meeting. This will be the last meeting until our "After the Holiday "party and Membership Kick-Off meeting in January. On the horizon for 2008 are Business to Business Seminars and more networking events.

. We welcome Brian Peller from M & T Bank, Angela Heydt from Apple Insurance and Erik Strada from GSF Mortgage to our board of directors. We are starting to see consistency and stability within our organization and we continue to grow. We still have a lot of work that we would like to accomplish and need your input and suggestions. We know that everyone can not attend meetings at all times, but your suggestions and opinions can be communicated by phone, fax or email. So let’s hear from you. Our mission is to provide the events and resources you as business owners/leaders need, but we need to know what that is!

We welcome the following new and returning members: ABC Gutters, Inc. (Tom Vamos); Extra Innings (Rick Krivda); Rainbow Printing (Christine Richardson) and Pete's Cycle (Joe/Susan Kruse) to the OFBPA.
