President’s Message:  August, 2010

The OFBPA monthly meeting is this Wednesday, August 18th at 7:30 am at IKEA located 8352 Honeygo Blvd, (21236).  RSVP required. Breakfast will be served and is FREE to all OFBPA members. All guests will be $5.00. Please RSVP so that IKEA may plan for food.

We’ve done some shuffling on our board to accommodate changes in schedules. We welcome Sharon Kozlowski as our new Vice President. She will continue to handle our Membership Committee. Teddie still chairs our Welcome Binder committee and we thank Jackie Harroll for serving on our board these past two years. We also welcome Terrence Manuel of Belmont Financial who will be compiling our newsletter starting in September.

After a brief hiatus from events the past two months, our fall is shaping up to be busy with two upcoming networking events.

Oak Crest Retirement Community will be hosting our September 15^th NE Networking event. We will once again join members from Parkville Carney, Perry Hall White Marsh and Route 40 business associations for a night of networking. Invites will go out next week. Guest speaker will be Ed Dahling from AFLAC. Topic will be Health Care Reform in a nutshell.

The county-wide networking event is in the planning stages and I’ll have more updates in the September newsletter.

We will also have a committee meeting for next year’s Belair Road Corridor Crawl event. So if interested in helping or if you have input, please email all ideas and suggestion. We will be partnering with Oak Crest on the coupon book to make our “second edition” even better!

As many of you know, events “just don’t happen”, they need people with a little time, and lots of ideas. We have a great eclectic mix of business members and community leaders and no more excuses of “I didn’t know you need help” or “I’ve never been on a committee before” or “I didn’t know what I could do”. There is nothing more “fun and exhilarating” than brainstorming with others. So you are really missing out if you do not participate in at least one event the business association is involved in. We offer many types of venues throughout the year… pick one and get involved!
